Lol that one moment where the other kite competitors had differing opinions on Nio's gender.

That scene with Nio letting Doan try to kill him but then being the one to do it when Doan fails. I thought Nio was going to be more ruthless, like wanting to pay Doan back, but it was not anything like that. It was like some warped gesture of affection.

At one point I expected Nio to be trying to test Yuen. By letting Doan strangle himself/herself, Nio wanted to see if Yuen comes to save him/her. And Yuen was right there, besides the tent. So who knows, this thought crossed my mind.

I think a bit of dramatic flavour was missing from the aftermath. The authors might want to keep it mellow and tragic, for the viewers to sort of sympathise with Nio. But an alternative could be that Yuen is seeing Nio laugh uncontrollably in the aftermath of the tent scene. This would make Nio look more like a monster and clearly show this conflict of Yuen vs Nio, as Yuen would be proven wrong, that Nio "became a human" (a direct citation that stupid dumb dum dum translators did not translate properly).

The authors made it exactly as it should be. Maybe Nio could laugh or truly enjoy her revenge some time earlier, not long after being freed from Doan, but not now. She is long past the point of burning hatred - it is merely a matter of completion: one of those two should have died in order for another to continue living. That is almost how meeting an ex who abused you after years of being in a happy marriage feels: you feel pity, disgust, bittersweet longing and uneasiness but once you two talk and properly part ways, all of it becomes a calm and gentle void.

I have to say the soundtrack on the scene was PERFECT it had me contained on my place just waiting for Nio's next move.

I get what you mean but I also thought "Ah, this feels like Nio" the character seems empty and warped (if that's the most accurate word, can't say) so Yuen must be trying to help Nio and fill their emptiness

Well...that did happen. Idk what to say this was just kind of a rough to watch episode for me. Not saying it was bad, but damn it got me thinkin.

Hope to learn a bit more about the character when I can.

A very straighforward episode, nothing to comment on, really.

So for Nio it seems to be the plot of going out of control to the point Yuen cannot justify protecting him/her. The doc guy is already suggesting that Nio is a monster. Souji is a dumb guy, but even he voice concerns over Nio planning the whole thing just for the sake own enjoyment/to fulfill Souji's lust for money. So I expect, at one point, for them to have a rift over whether to do something about Nio or not. And it does not seem like there is much support for Nio, in this argument.

In the ending, it could be me misreading it, but the final frame shows a katana and 8 petals, with 2 more falling from above. Could those petals represent the 10 lives of characters - Kurima's father-in-law, his fiance, Nio, Souji, Doc, (one slot to fill next episode?), the priest, his nun (that's 8), and then two more petals being Kurima and Yuen respectively. Just a thought.

We can only imagine what horrors and perverted stuff he put Nio through...
It seems anything would be better than having that guy in charge of the Company.
Maybe the survivors can create a company that uses its powers for niceness instead of evil.
The episode infers that Nio is a hermaphodite, and Doan did all kinds of unspeakable things to Nio...we can assume that Doan put Nio on display, naked, in his sideshow attraction...no telling what he did to Nio privately.
Really intense story and relationships.
